Mini goes chrome to chrome at Goodwood

In Australia the Mini rose to fame in 1966 winning the Gallaher 500 and filling the top 9 positions of the race. Decades later historic Mini’s still produce some of the most action packed and exciting racing around.

With the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard postponed to later this year, we thought we would take a look back to one of last year’s flagship events. The Betty Richmond Trophy race at the 77th Members’ Meeting.

This Betty Richmond Trophy race is for Mini saloons and variants up to 1300cc. Following an incredible demand from Mini entrants, two race heats were added to the event with the field scheduled to be whittled down to 30 cars for the final race.

This year is the 64th anniversary of the Mini. It is great the interest and popularity in this iconic can continue to grow.

Although it is not manufactured in Australia, the Mini it is certainly a part of our Australian motorsport history.
