HEINRICH WINS RACE THREE, HANSFORD CLAIMS THE WEEKEND
Joel Heinrich’s successful debut weekend in the Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters has ended with another victory in race three, while consistency paved the way to an overall round victory for Ryan Hansford.

Heinrich (Daimler Trucks Adelaide Chevrolet Camaro), won the race to turn one from pole position, but immediately came under fire from Hansford (Multispares Racing Holden Torana) at the opening complex of corners, however, by turn six, Steven Johnson (Hancock Racing Ford Mustang) ran side-by-side with Hansford.

At the same time, Andrew Fisher (Jesus Racing Holden Torana) locked up and ran wide.

Later on the opening lap, Cameron Tilley (Anglomoil Valiant Pacer) ran wide at turn 11, while Tony Karanfilovski (TIFS Third Party Logistics Ford Mustang) had a momentary off at turn 16.

Fisher’s charge back up the order saw him make a spectacular move stick on John Bowe (Rare Spares Holden Torana) at turn one on lap four of seven, while Bowe lost ground when he ran wide at turn 13 on the same lap.

Meanwhile, Karanfilovski’s tough weekend continued with a spin at turn six on lap five, while later on in the lap, Warren Trewin (SNB Berryman Racing HQ Holden Monaro) went off at the penultimate corner and continued.

At the start of the next circuit, Fisher made an unsuccessful challenge on Danny Buzadzic (Western General Body Works Holden Torana) for fifth, while the final lap featured a spirited battle between Trewin and Jason Palmer (Palmers Sales and Marketing BMW E30) for 11th.

At the chequered flag it was Heinrich with the victory by 7.3532sec, along the way lowering his own category lap record to 2:00.4736sec.

Hansford finished second, just ahead of Johnson, then Marcus Zukanovic (Action Motor Industries Ford Falcon), Buzadzic, Fisher, Bowe, Tilley, Geoff Fane (Daimler Trucks Adelaide Chevrolet Camaro), with John Adams (Bullet Trailers Racing Ford Falcon XY GT) rounding out the top ten.

In the class standings, Buzadzic claimed Pro Am, Adams Pro Sport, and Palmer Invitational.

Next on the agenda for the Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters is Mount Panorama, and the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International from November 10-12.
