"Hey Charger!" This catchy phrase still echoes in the Australian automotive industry, symbolising the meteoric rise of the Chrysler Valiant Charger.

As Chrysler's entry into the booming muscle car market, the Charger quickly made its way to the racetrack, leading to the creation of a homologation special known as the E38. Designed with one purpose — to win at Bathurst — the E38 was based on the VH Charger R/T Six Pack but featured a highly tuned 280 bhp engine with triple Weber DCOE carburetors and several performance upgrades, including a dual exhaust system.

All E38 models came equipped with the Track Pack, which included alloy wheels, stronger brakes, quick-ratio steering, and a limited-slip differential (with options for rear axle ratios). An optional 35-gallon fuel tank, known as the Big Tank, was also available. Out of the 316 E38 Chargers produced, only 224 were fitted with the coveted Big Tank option.

Now, decades later the Vitamin C Orange 1971 Valiant VH Charger R/T E38 has been Illustrated by leading artist Peter Hughes with superb detail and accuracy. This is the second series in a new range of Australian muscle car limited edition prints in collaboration with Hughes Motorsport Art.

Having spent over 2 decades as the Exterior Design Manager at General Motors Design Australia, Peter Hughes has been responsible for designing some of the most successful cars in the manufacturers' recent history. He has also designed some of HRT's most iconic racecar liveries.
