"Hey Charger!" This catchy phrase still echoes in the Australian automotive industry, symbolising the meteoric rise of the Chrysler Valiant Charger.

The quickest and most powerful of them all was the R/T E49! With an impressive 302 bhp from just a 265ci engine, the E49 dominated muscle car performance, especially in acceleration and the quarter mile.

In 1972, Wheels magazine declared the E49 "the fastest accelerating Australian muscle car of all." It was capable of completing the standing quarter mile in 14.4 seconds and reaching 0-60 mph in just 6.1 seconds.

Today, E49s are extremely rare, with only 149 ever built. Of these, just 29 were finished in the popular color Mercury Silver.

Now, decades later the Mercury Silver 1972 Valiant VH Charger R/T E49 has been Illustrated by leading artist Peter Hughes with superb detail and accuracy. This is the second series in a new range of Australian muscle car limited edition prints in collaboration with Hughes Motorsport Art.

Having spent over 2 decades as the Exterior Design Manager at General Motors Design Australia, Peter Hughes has been responsible for designing some of the most successful cars in the manufacturers' recent history. He has also designed some of HRT's most iconic racecar liveries.
